As your new president of the Farmington Homeowner’s Association I was informed that I am supposed to write a letter for our newsletter. I must say I was not prepared for that, but I will certainly try my best, and please remember I was not an English major (ha). Seriously, I wanted to thank you for allowing me this opportunity to be your President. I cannot tell you how excited I am to jump in and get involved. Back in the 80′s I grew up in this very neighborhood on Piedmont Circle. I attended Madison Jr. High and Naperville Central and if you look closely you will see my name spelled out in cement on the south corner of Cassin and Remington (remember I was a kid back then). My memories of Farmington are ones of pure joy and happiness and I remember how involved my parents and their friends were, so I am excited to be part of this great neighborhood again as an adult. These past few weeks I have had the opportunity to get to know everyone who has been serving on the board and I am amazed and impressed at the time and energy they spend on making Farmington a great place to live, so thank you all for your dedication and hard work. We have also had the opportunity to recruit new members who bring new ideas and boundless energy to the table, so keep your eyes and ears open for new events coming your way. Already we have a lot of exciting new programs such as the “bags in the park”, couples/partners golf outing, and possibly a poker night, so if you want to be a part of these events please make sure you have paid your dues.
If you have not done so, please make sure to get your $25 dropped off at 2222 Remington Drive ASAP. The $25 that you pay guarantees you will receive our quarterly newsletter, helps keep up the landscaping at all our entrances, and helps us continue the wonderful children’s activities throughout the year, along with many other activities.
On a serious note, as new president not only do I want to make sure that our neighborhood is fun, but safe at the same time. We have heard reports of children being approached by strangers, as recent as a couple of weeks ago, right in our own neighborhood, so please, as a friendly reminder, try to make sure your child is always with a buddy at the park, talk with them about “stranger danger” and for those children under the age of 4 please make sure an adult is with them at the park. We all should be watching out for our neighbors, so if you see something suspicious don’t hesitate to get involved somehow.
School will be starting soon so don’t hesitate to get involved and volunteer your time to the association. We are always happy to accept help in all areas. Again, thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone out and about.
